Daily Photos: January Edition

New year. New plans. New season. A lot of new. January, generally a month of calm in my little corner of the world, was a month of whirlwind and change this year. I accepted a job as the medical photographer for Connecticut Children's Medical Center in November. We visited for a round of house hunting, and I worked a contract week. I start full-time in March. I'll share the full story in another post, but January 2017 marked a year of mapping a whole lot of change. I'll continue to shoot portraits to a lesser degree and the very occasional wedding. Ty will finish his PhD this year and is actively seeking work in New England.

In the meantime, life, day in and day out. These photographs help me stay grounded when so much feels unsteady and shifting amidst major transition.

This time around I did her family photos, a perfect start to photo shooting in 2017. Her eldest son is the same age as my youngest brother. So crazy!

January 14: On the eve of my fourth marathon, Nadine prepped for cheerleading. The marathon ended up being a bit of a bust. It was 60 degrees and a hundred percent humidity. The wheels didn't fall off, exactly, but I couldn't hold my Boston qualifying pace for the last few miles. Still, I get teary thinking about this run, as it was my first post-cancer marathon, and I ran hard and strong. Boston qualifier next go-round! Nadine and her Aunt Stefanie being there to cheer her mom and I on made a tough day pretty damn good.
